Letter Z tracing worksheet

The capital Z is three lines in a zigzag. Z is often reversed. Across, down on the diagonal, then across again.

Each row alternates Z and z so a child practises both forms of the same letter in one sitting — which is how it is taught, because the two shapes are learned as one letter rather than two. Say the letter SOUND as they trace rather than its name: that is what turns tracing into reading.

Words to say together while tracing: zebra, zip, zoo. Hearing the sound at the start of real words is what connects the shape on the page to the letter it represents.
