Letter I tracing worksheet

The capital I is one line and two caps. Capital I has top and bottom bars; lowercase i is a short line with a dot.

Each row alternates I and i so a child practises both forms of the same letter in one sitting — which is how it is taught, because the two shapes are learned as one letter rather than two. Say the letter SOUND as they trace rather than its name: that is what turns tracing into reading.

Words to say together while tracing: igloo, insect, ice. Hearing the sound at the start of real words is what connects the shape on the page to the letter it represents.
