Letter L tracing worksheet

The capital L is a line and a foot. L is the simplest capital: straight down, then straight across.

Each row alternates L and l so a child practises both forms of the same letter in one sitting — which is how it is taught, because the two shapes are learned as one letter rather than two. Say the letter SOUND as they trace rather than its name: that is what turns tracing into reading.

Words to say together while tracing: lion, leaf, lemon. Hearing the sound at the start of real words is what connects the shape on the page to the letter it represents.
