How to use name tracing worksheets well
A child’s own name is usually the first word they care about writing — which makes name tracing worksheets one of the easiest ways to start handwriting practice. A few things that help it stick:
Start big, then shrink
Young writers control large movements before small ones. Begin with big letters and wide lines, and move to smaller sizes as their control improves. If the pencil grip is still developing, tracing with a finger first — then a crayon, then a pencil — is a natural progression.
Trace, then copy, then write
