About number tracing worksheets 1–10
Numbers are traced in the same stroke order children later use for maths work: most start at the top and travel down or around in one motion. The reversible ones — 2, 3, 5, 7 — deserve the most repetition, because a mirrored 3 in tracing becomes a mirrored 3 in sums.
Count OUT LOUD together as each number is traced. Saying "four" while writing 4 is what binds the numeral to the quantity — tracing alone teaches the shape, counting aloud teaches the meaning, and doing both at once is how number sense starts.
When 1–10 is comfortable, the 1–20 sheet introduces the teen numbers, where the shape of the words ("fourteen") and the order of the digits (1 first) famously disagree — worth its own page of practice.
