Letter O tracing worksheet

The capital O is one closed circle. O starts at the top and travels left. Going the wrong way makes later joins awkward.

Each row alternates O and o so a child practises both forms of the same letter in one sitting — which is how it is taught, because the two shapes are learned as one letter rather than two. Say the letter SOUND as they trace rather than its name: that is what turns tracing into reading.

Words to say together while tracing: orange, owl, octopus. Hearing the sound at the start of real words is what connects the shape on the page to the letter it represents.
