The -ig word family worksheets

The -ig family is just six words, all one syllable, all closed by the same hard g sound: big, dig, pig, wig, fig, jig. What makes it worth practicing as a set is the pair at the front of the list — big and dig differ by exactly one letter, b versus d, the two letters early readers reverse most often. Writing them side by side, in the same hand, on the same line, does more for that confusion than drilling b and d on their own. Jig is also the one word in the set most children won't already know by sight, so the page isn't pure repetition of words they've already got.

Because the list is short, the whole family fits on a single printed page — six lines, nothing to save for a second sheet. Each word is set twice on its own ruled line: trace the first pass, then write the second unaided, the same trace-then-write layout used across every word-family sheet here. Say the six words aloud together before handing it over — the point of the page is reinforcing a sound pattern already heard, not sounding it out cold.
