About debt payoff tracker

The columns are the same as any bill tracker — bill, due date, amount, paid — but debt payoff earns its own sheet because the numbers mean something different. The amount here is the minimum payment on that debt, not the balance owed, and checking "paid" means that month's payment went out, not that the debt is cleared. Six preset rows cover the debt types most people are actually juggling: two credit cards, a student loan, a car loan, a personal loan, and a medical bill.

Keeping debts on their own sheet instead of folding them into rent and utilities matters because the stakes are different. A missed utility payment is a late fee; a missed minimum on a credit card is a fee plus a jump in the interest rate on the whole balance. With all six debts on one page, it's also easier to see which one to throw extra money at once the minimums are covered.
